ROBERTO KRETSCHMER CAMPAIGN

In March 2005 the FUNDACION suffered the irreparable loss of Dr. Roberto Kretschmer, one of our founding members. Dr. Kretschmer, alumnus, extraordinary pediatrician and renowned scientist, worked tirelessly to develop institutional links and to encourage young physicians and researchers to pursue post-graduate studies at Harvard´s schools, hospitals and research centres.

To continue his quest for advanced research in immunology and to honour his life-long work, the FUNDACION embarked on a fundraising campaign to raise US $1 MM to endow a self-sustaining fund to finance graduate programs at Harvard and advanced research in immunology in the memory of Dr. Roberto Kretschmer. The scholarships will be used to finance the scholar in the medical, public health and immunology areas and will be awarded to an individual for a maximum of five years. This effort has garnered the full support and collaboration of the prestigious Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico, and that of key individuals of the scientific and medical communities, industrialists and philanthropists in Mexico--all of which are unified to support this important area of need which will have great social impact for Mexico.

The Roberto Kretschmer Campaign for funds to sustain the scholarships officially commenced March 22, 2006.

The Campaign continues and we hope to commence granting the award for the academic year 2010-2011. If this is achievable we will confirm via our website by January 2010.
